It has probably already become obvious to you that we have a fair number people flowing into and out of town! Guests for dinner, breakfast, lunch! Traffic has been building all day in Woodstock Village and expect it to continue throughout the weekend ahead.
Here’s the very brief of what is going on. It’s enough to make Woodstock Early Bird’s head spin while hiding behind the shrubbery on someone’s secret porch.
What we have here is the triumvirate or virtual harmonic convergence of events!
1. In just a little while…Woodstock Union High School Graduation along the banks of the lovely Ottauquechee River (thanks A-M-B for that reference!) Oh, WEB is getting a bit misty eyes at the thought of the little ones flying the coop!
2. Alumni Weekend and Parade. The Vermont Standard has this covered with a full quarter page of Alumni Parade RULES! (Non, merci!)
3. Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival. Important tip: Festival is taking place at Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm.
Here’s the low-down of the balloon blast-off times…get your cameras out because this evening and tomorrow morning (early!) are expected to be be-yooo-ti-ful:
While Tropical Storm Irene left much devastation in her path, the Quechee Hot Air Balloon Craft and Music Festival is alive and well and in a new location. It features over 20 hot air balloons, with flights scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15th; 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th (always weather and wind permitting).
Balloon rides will be available to purchase during the event. (Remember what goes up, must come down)
As of 4:00pm Friday there were still balloon ride spaces available….
